Pajunk USA Provides Product Solutions to Fight Opiod Abuse

The opioid crisis has been a hot topic both globally and in the United States.

It’s been reported by The National Survey of Drug Use and Health that more than 115 Americans die every day due to an opioid overdose. The practice of overprescribing pain killers for postoperative pain skyrocketed in the late 1990’s when pharmaceutical companies reassured the medical community that patients would not become addicted to opioid pain relievers. The years that followed showed high increases of prescriptions of opioids that led to widespread misuse. In 2017, the U.S. government declared a nationwide public health emergency regarding the opioid crisis. Because of the opioid abuse, people have paid more attention to the opioid-sparing techniques that regional anesthesia provides for pre- and postop pain. Single shot nerve blocks, catheters, and pain pumps are perfect solutions to cut down on prescribing opioid pain medications.

As a leading manufacturer of these preventative product solutions, the Pajunk USA team wanted to do even more for the opioid crisis in their community. “Community service is an important part of how we do business to serve our core values,” said Nick Sucan, Human Resources Manager.

“We are a business determined to not only make great products to help cut down on the need for opioids, but to also not forget those that have already been impacted by the opioid epidemic. Our employees work hard every day to create a healthier world.”

No Longer Bound (NLB)

In early 2018, Pajunk USA began working No Longer Bound (NLB), a non-profit 12-month long, residential, regeneration program to rescue addicts, regenerate men, and reconcile families. Many of the NLB residents are fighting drug addictions that began with prescription pain killers to treat sports injuries when they were just teenagers. Pajunk USA supports NLB as a corporate sponsor, attends fundraising events, and spends their volunteer day’s onsite helping NLB with major tasks. In 2020, Pajunk USA plans to expand their support to the Mary Hall Freedom House, a residential substance abuse treatment service for women in the Metro-Atlanta area.
