Sets with Fixation Device

Combined Spinal-Epidural (CSE) anesthesia unites the rapidity of onset and predictability of a spinal block with the ability to modify and extend the block through an epidural.

EpiSpin Safety combines two key features into one product: the fixation device premounted on the SPROTTE® needle designed for easy SPROTTE® needle fixation in the desired position, and the backeye opening in the Tuohy tip for positioning of the SPROTTE® needle with no bending of the spinal needle over the Tuohy tip. EpiSpin Safety sets come equipped with the EpiSpin Safety needles with fixation device and EpiLong catheters, as well as accessoires like the clamping adapter, bacteria filters, or syringes.

Fixation Device

EpiSpin Safety Sets come with a fixation device premounted on the SPROTTE® needle:

  • Designed for easy SPROTTE® needle fixation in desired position.
  • Developed to stabilize the SPROTTE® needle for the injection of anesthetic while reducing the risk of needle displacement.
  • Allows for 360° rotation of the SPROTTE® needle.
Backeye Opening

Additional distal opening in the Tuohy tip for positioning of the SPROTTE® needle:

  • No bending of spinal needle over Tuohy tip.
Ogival Tip

Giving the needle atraumatic properties:

  • Lower incidence of PDPH with pencil-point (atraumatic) tip design.1-4
  • The special geometry enables a better tactile sensation compared to bevel-tip needles when penetrating the different layers of ligament.5
Large Lateral Eye

Burr-free lateral opening with atraumatically rounded edges:

  • Enables a quicker CSF flow than with cutting needle.6
Magnifying Hub

Clear, magnifying needle hub:

  • Allows for easy visualization of blood or CSF.7
Outlet Marking on SPROTTE® Needle Shaft

Marking indicates the exit of the needle tip through the backeye opening:

  • Facilitates SPROTTE® placement.
Metal Stylet

With flushed grinding:

  • Developed to close the needle precisely to prevent tissue coring.

Three Lateral Openings

Arranged around the first 1.8 cm with closed tip:

  • Designed for even distribution of the anesthetic.
Depth Markings

On the first 30cm:

  • Helps ensure visualization of insertion depth during catheter placement.
Marking for Clamping Adapter

Indicates how far the catheter needs to be inserted into the Clamping Adapter.
